I LOVE that bitty section at the front of Target that sells seasonal fun stuff for $1-3! So much fun! And yes, I still shop at Target. This fellow pastor’s wife beautifully shares views about this that I hold also. You don’t have to agree with me, either, that is okay! As long as we are kind to each other about it all. 😉 Anyways…
Here is what I grabbed (not counting all the other stuff I grabbed, because Target):
A few things for the nursery at church AND stuff to use at home as well! Yay!
At church, we are in the process of splitting up the nursery from newborn-4 years into a newbs-2 year old’s class and a 3-4 year old’s class. I’m working on the newbie nursery. 😉
How cute are these lacing shapes?!? $1!
I will probably throw away the sweets shape. I just watched Fed-Up on Netflix the other day, and while I was already very careful about ingredient checking and watching our sugar intake, it just really annoys me how toys, clothes, movies, etc. also encourage the eating of junk food. In case commercials and seeing it EVERYWHERE is not enough. Ahem. *steps off soapbox* It really, really is a great documentary and even features a prominent functional medicine practitioner! Back on topic now, I love the dexterity aspect of these lacing shapes and getting them used to the idea of all kinds of food at an age when they can be very picky. They did have other lacing shapes with robots, and fairies and such too!
I grabbed this cute bulletin board set to use at home and church. In the church nursery, I have a colorful boho theme happening that some of these will fit in well with! I believe this was $1!!! Can you say, “score?” 😉
So at home, I’ve been working on building up a preschool section of toys, games, and play-work. Zoey is dying to start school and Phoebe wants to do whatever the other kids are doing. So I’m always on the lookout for good stuff that teaches and keeps them busy. 😉
A color wheel! With clothespins that spell the color word. Love it! Word recognition, colors, and dexterity in a little zip-up bag! How cool is it that they come in zip-up pouches?!? Brilliant. The lace-up cards do too, I forgot to mention it. 🙂
A number sequence puzzle! They had a few variations of this, some with the A, B, C’s and different back drops, I believe there was a farm and an underwater scene. I picked the numbers and space this time. We are learning about space this year with Classical Conversations Cycle 2 and I love when the themes are all matchy-matchy. Plus, I love astronomy. 😉
Zoey is very excited about putting the numbers in order. 😉
This too, comes with a zip-up pouch but it was hard to get them out and it would be a pain in the toosh to put them in how they came, so right now they look like this:
Which is kind of making me crazy. I may put them in a larger ziplock. 😉 Also, this puzzle reeks of an Elmer’s glue smell. I don’t know why. Not a bad thing, but when I opened the bag, the smell came out and a bunch of memories flooded back of being in preschool and eating dried Elmer’s glue off my hands. Yuck. I had conveniently blocked out that I was that girl. Anyhow, $1!
Here, Phoebe is helping me show you the shapes wheel!
At first I was annoyed, when I pulled it out, I thought they didn’t have enough pins for the shapes…
But they do! On the other side of the clothes pins! Handy!!! 😉 It also helps to read the packaging. Ahem.
Cute pictures, word and shape recognition and working with clothespins! Winning. Again, ONE dollar!
Sure, okay, yes. I could make some of this stuff, but for a dollar, it is way cuter than what I would make and way faster to grab it and throw it in my happy, red cart!
Okay, last one! Phonics work! I’m all about phonics and teaching phonics and the world knowing phonics! So I love these. 13 double-sided cards, one clothespin. Match the beginning letter of the picture word! Cute illustrations, and something easy to do with my littles. I’m go crazy for things that have no prep-work involved. 😉
Again, another great zip-up pouch.
A few of the backs:
Cute, right?!? I need to get to my other, more local Target and see what goodies await me there!!! ❤️❤️❤️
What treasures have you found in your Target Dollar days lately???Gina
